GNOME 2.x version is nearing completion... basically the same as the stable 1.4 version (0.4.1) except ported to the new platform. Had to turn off the gaussian output because libart_lgpl has a very nasty bug that can crash your computer (see http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=83682). I may have to re-write the code that draws the gaussian to try and work around this bug (I am also trying to fix up the bug).

A BIG thanks to Jean-Michel Ardantz for motivating me to take applet development back up, and for doing the automagic Glade GUI generation for the properties/console/new user druid, and cleaning up various other things to make the applet more happy in GNOME 2.x.

LIES - 0.3.4-2 with pending bug-fixes becomes the stable version...

OK, 0.3.4-2 now becomes the official stable release - I think it has been in circulation long enough now. On to the good stuff! The next unstable version (0.5.0) will have a completely different architecture. Hopefully (if bonobo event stuff is adequate) I can implement some really groovy stuff (sounds, state machine parsing the client output etc). The applet will also move to a plugin architecture, with only the minimum subset of functionality in the core module.

-------
Found huge memory leak (console_log_message) which could crash the computer in < 2 hours. Fixed it. There is still a memory leak (a small, LINEAR, planned leak) which will be fixed when extended functionality is added to the console/applet.

Code is now available in cvs.seti-applet.sourceforge.net see sourceforge.net/projects/seti-applet and follow the links to CVS for details of how to grab the code.

26/9/00
-------
Release 0.3.1 - robustify (hopefully!) the applet. Add extra state for applet orientation for tiny (24 pixel) side panel - only show the radar dish with the unit info as a tooltip.

The next release (in a couple of weeks hopefully, depends what my baby daughter says!) will have stdout from the client startup into a debug window. This will allow the (intelligent?) parsing of the client output to show some fancy graphics for when a new unit is being downloaded - ie an animation or something nice like that.

1/7/00
------
Release 0.3.0 - change to use gnome canvas rather than gtk widgets, new graphical versions of best spike + best gaussian.

8/4/00
------
Release 0.2.1 with documentation and bug-fixes from Craig Orsinger.

4/3/00
------
Advanced properties tab added. Can specify extra command line params to pass to the seti client upon execution, specify the 'nice' level of the client (default 19).

28/2/00
-------
Now has a nice graphic which shows the status of the seti client.

TODO:
-----
Add graphical monitors, get stats from seti@home web site for display in applet.

24/2/00
-------
Release 0.1.0. Matt Herbert added functionality to start and stop the seti@home process from the applet menu.

16/1/00
-------
Release 0.0.1! Initial release, displays percentage complete, strongest spike, strongest gaussian, units processes and total CPU time from the seti@home client.
